You know what they say…
“April showers bring May flowers.”
Which is good to remember on a cold, rainy March cool, cloudy April day like today! (One more month… May is nearly here. We can do this!)
As winter takes its last gasps and we get short-lived sneak previews of the coming Spring, what better time is there to send a note of encouragement and a reminder that sunny days are just around the corner to someone who needs it?
This April, I will be hosting a Live, In-Person Workshop featuring the Rain or Shine Suite from Stampin Up!, as well as a Virtual Workshop you can do in your own time, at your own pace, and from the comfort of your own home. Whether you have never stamped before, or you have a fully stocked craft room, these classes are designed to be fun and rewarding and to help make your rainy days a little bit brighter.
LIVE IN-PERSON APRIL SHOWERS WORKSHOP
Join me in person on April 22 at 11:30AM for coffee, cookies, and cardmaking.
Depending on the number of sign-ups, I may add an additional class later in the day - or for another day - so if you are interested, but the time doesn’t work, please let me know! If you have a child you would like to bring with you, please let me know, as I am trying to organize a mommy-and-me version of this class). This is my very first workshop and I’m sure it will be a lot of fun!
Together, we will make 4 cards, featuring each of the sweet animals from the Playing in the Rain Suite Collection (one of each animal and a 4th featuring the animal of your choosing!). Seating is limited, so register as soon as possible to guarantee your spot!
UPDATE: ***the in-person workshop is now SOLD OUT! See below for more information on the virtual workshop which continues until supplies run out.
The cost is $16 to make 4 cards. If you place a $50 dollar order using my Workshop Code (XZHVAFWS), registration for the class is FREE!
Please Note: If you are interested in any of the designs being offered in the virtual class, make and take kits will be available for pick-up at the class ($3/kit). Please let me know in advance which designs you’d like by filling out the Card Selection Form.
Supply List
While I will have everything you need on hand to make the projects, if you have the following and don’t mind bringing them, please bring:
- Glue (I recommend TomBow multipurpose glue) or tape runner (such as this)
- Dimensionals (such as these)
- Scissors (these snips are my absolute favorite. I have had them since 2009 and they are still going strong!)
- a Black Ink Pad (I highly recommend Memento Tuxedo Black, particularly if you will be coloring with alcohol markers)
- Your own Shammy
- Your Take Your Pick Tool, if you have one.
- Your Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, if you have one.
*If you don’t have all (or any) of these things don’t worry. We will make do!

During this class, you will make 4 cards (or more, if you want to order more). Choose from 9 designs, including the 4 that will be featured in the in-person workshop. *You may order up to 2 of any one design.
Choose from the following designs:

Select the cards you like best and I will send the kits you need to make them no later than within 1 week of your order.
The virtual class is $36 with the Playing in the Rain stamp set included, or $16 if you already own the set. Each additional card kit beyond the initial 4 is $3. $5 flat shipping. Local pick-up is FREE.
Please note that if you don't have the Playing in the Rain dies, you will need to fussy cut some of the images after stamping them (i.e. you will need to cut them out using a scissor). Some of the card kits will include die cut images from the designer series paper (DSP), depending on which designs you choose. Please let me know if you’d like to add the die set or any other materials on to your order.
The online tutorials have been posted to My YouTube Page.
Supply List/What you will NEED for the Virtual Workshop:
- the Playing in the Rain stamp set.
- An acrylic stamp block that is at least 2-7/8” x 2-11/16” like this one.
- A Black ink pad (I highly recommend Memento Tuxedo Black, particularly if you will be coloring with alcohol markers).
- Glue (I recommend TomBow multipurpose glue) or tape runner (such as this). For some of the cards, it’s best to use the fine tip glue, which I highly recommend.
- Dimensionals (such as these).
- Scissors (these snips are my absolute favorite. I have had them since 2009 and they are still going strong!).
- Markers for coloring (I highly recommend our Stampin’ Blends. You can also use other high quality alcohol markers, such as Copics). The colors you will need are: light blue, green, pink, yellow, orange, gray, and lavender, depending on what cards you choose (see below for specific Stampin Up blends colors).
- a Shammy to clean your stamps (you can alternatively use baby wipes if you have some on hand).
- Any sentiments you’d like to use beyond the sentiments included in the Rainy Day stamp set.
Recommendations (Not Required but Good To Have):
- Playing in the Rain Dies (Note: To use these you will need a Stampin Cut & Emboss Machine or another die-cutting machine).
- a Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to make those rain coats, hats, umbrellas, and flowers look wet.
- a Stampin Pierce Mat to get the sharpest stamped images
- a Bone Folder to get the smoothest folds for your cards
- a Take Your Pick Tool to help perfectly place your embellishments.
- Balmy Blue Classic Stampin’ Pad (or a light blue ink pad).
- Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin’ Pad (or a pink ink pad).
- Stampin Blends in: Balmy Blue, Old Olive, Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze, Gray Granite and Highland Heather.
- If you choose a card with heat embossed sentiments: Versa Mark ink, a Heat Tool, and Embossing Powders*. For easy cleanup I also recommend the Embossing Additions Toolkit.
*You can also use white craft ink for the sentiment.
